EAST MONTPELIER VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT
Fire, Rescue and Emergency Medical Services for the Capital AreaEMFD serves the communities of East Montpelier and Calais, is the primary ambulance provider for Plainfield and Marshfield, and is a mutual aid partner for fire departments around the area.
We are a volunteer-run 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and welcome the community's help as volunteers as well as financial supporters. Volunteers can help out in ways other than fighting fires; they help keep us ready to fight by donating their organizational, technical and fundraising skills. To learn more about becoming a member, come by the station at 54 Village Acres any Tuesday evening. If you are a licensed BLS, ALS or Paramedic-level EMS provider, inquire here about employment opportunities. East Montpelier Volunteer Fire Department has more than 20 active volunteers plus more than a dozen licensed Emergency Medical Technicians staffing a 24-hour ambulance service.
There are two fire stations. The first, constructed in the 1960s and expanded in the 80s, is at 365 Templeton Road. It currently houses:
